and that’s what’s up…

These last couple of days have been hectic.  Yesterday was the first day that I missed a post!  It felt unnatural.  I couldn’t help but miss one yesterday since I was very busy throughout the day and my toddler has been resisting sleep more and more these days.  I’ve been feeling like I’m in a dream all day long.

Trying to get the ‘normal’ running of the house done when you have a toddler is tough, but trying to get it done when that baby refuses to sleep is near impossible.  I had to prioritize and unfortunately, thehiddencook had to take a back seat for the day.

I have all these plans and I obsess about where next I’m going to showcase, which fruits are going to be in the spotlight and what will be my next dish.  For now though I have to settle for them being just ideas, a part of my dreams.  I can’t seem to get it all done in a day!  It’s time consuming-cooking, photographing and writing for my blog (tasks that I thoroughly enjoy) and right now baby takes full priority.

The next couple of weeks are probably going to be much of the same; I’ve started back studying and putting some time into my own personal growth and development and that takes a chunk of time away from my own time now- time I might add that isn’t infinite- I get a couple hours during the day when baby is asleep and a few more at night after bedtime…when it goes smoothly!  So for now, I’m making lists (and checking them twice) and ensuring that all the vital stuff gets done first.

Aside from that I’ve finally purchased my new camera! YAY!!! I’m very excited to get it and can’t wait to start taking photos again- which of course means I’ll be posting like crazy again!  I’m also going on a vacation soon with the family so that might make my posts a bit ‘here and there’. We’ll see.

Anyway for now, that’s what’s been going on…that’s what’s up!

trip to the market

seasoning

Today is Sunday.  It’s market day for us- in my family at least.  It’s the first time I’m taking my little one.  We go to the Marabella market located in South Trinidad.  It’s vibrant colors and characteristic scents remind me of when I myself was a little one and I’d go with my mother.  I always loved it.  The people, the colors, the chatter, the produce.  It’s about getting in touch with the real Trinibagonians, the people who we seldom think about; those kind folk who choose to make their livelihoods toiling away beneath the blistering sun so that we-you and I- could taste and sample only the freshest crops.  I admire them. I love them.  They are my people.

Everything looked enticing and fresh today at the market and I’m keen to see what recipes I come up with during the week!
